For one day only UK supergroup Take That exclusively revealed to the world the video to their latest single “Kidz” in the bands official mobile app. Fans of the band tuned into their iPhone & Android app on Sunday to view the highly anticipated second single from the record breaking album “Progress”. It proved hugely popular with fans of the band resulting in a surge of downloads in what is already one of the most popular ever Mobile Roadie apps.
The band also built up a buzz in advance of the video release by revealing to fans that they could exclusively view the video in the app. They also released a day in advance a 30 second sample of the video and finally when it was available to view they sent a push notification to their legion of fans. Overall it was a great example of best practice in how to put your mobile app strategy at the heart of an important release.
