App of the Week: WTA

Happy 40th birthday, WTA! To celebrate this momentous occasion, the Women’s Tennis Association has launched enhanced digital platforms, including a redesigned website, a mobile site, and a new app, for fans of women’s tennis.

40 years ago in 1973 when Billie Jean King founded the WTA, “no one imaged how digital media would bring our sport and our players closer to the millions of tennis fans worldwide,” said Stacey Allaster, WTA Chairman and CEO. “Four decades later, social media and digital delivery of both on-court and off-court content is a strategic priority as we look to grow the sport and engage with fans with our players and tournaments wherever they are.”

In the mobile app, fans can catch up with all their favorite tennis stars, including Maria Sharapova, Serena and Venus Williams, and Li Na, among others. They can also check tournament schedules, watch videos, and chat with other tennis fans on the Fan Wall.

We’ve powered apps for individual sports teams; however, the WTA is the largest sport’s organization to use our platform. You can download the WTA app at
