Mobile Roadie partners with Consenda to provide apps for Swiss newspapers
posted by Terri KimMobile Roadie will now provide mobile apps for newspapers distributed in Switzerland through our partnership with Consenda, a media software company that provides an end-to-end content distribution solution for local and regional newspapers through a system called LocalPoint.
LocalPoint enables local publishers to bring local news content and advertising to a growing digital user base with an ecosystem that seamlessly connects print with the Web, out-of-home TV, mobile and social networking sites like Twitter and Facebook. According to Publicitas, the leading seller of newspaper media in Switzerland, the fastest growing medium for local news, used by over two-thirds of consumers, is the Internet. To stay competitive, local and regional print publishers use LocalPoint to implement a digital strategy that incorporates not just a website, but other forms of the Internet such as mobile apps and social networking sites.
Consenda is the number one provider of such local digital content services, and with Switzerland’s strong tradition in local news publishing, readers of the dozen or so LocalPoint newspapers make up the largest network of its kind in Europe.
Previous to Mobile Roadie, Consenda worked with another app development company; however, they chose Mobile Roadie as the competitive replacement after seeing our robust offerings, clientele, and superior functionality. Competitive advantages include: easier app set-up, radio and video streaming, extensive social networking capabilities, rich user engagement features such as QR code integration, and highly-flexible programmatic capability. We look forward to working with Consenda, and believe they made the right choice in choosing Mobile Roadie as their app provider.
Consumers are increasingly turning to the Web for news, with time spent on mobile apps jumping by 88% in the past year alone. In many markets, mobile apps are likely to become more important than the Web for news browsing, making mobile apps an integral part of any news publisher’s digital strategy.
Mobile Roadie’s Presence at Fortune Brainstorm Tech 2011
posted by Terri KimMichael Schneider, CEO at Mobile Roadie, recently attended FORTUNE Brainstorm TECH in Aspen, Colorado. Brainstorm TECH is “a marketplace of ideas that assembles the smartest people- the world’s top technology and media thinkers, operators, entrepreneurs, innovators, and influencers” from Fortune 500 companies and beyond. Attendees included ABC’s Anne Sweeney, Twitter’s Dick Costolo, and DreamWorks’ Jeffrey Katzenberg, just to name a few.
We not only attended the conference, but Mobile Roadie also powered the official app for Brainstorm TECH available for free download on iPhone and Android. With the app, conference attendees could instantly check the speakers, plan their day’s schedule with the provided agenda, find out where events were located, and see a live Twitter feed with all Tweets about #fortunetech and @brainstormtech, as well as other useful features.
Mobile Roadie was hard to miss at Brainstorm this year. In addition to Michael’s attendance and the official app, we also debuted a live “ticker” that appeared at the bottom of all TV and computer screens with the “Powered by Mobile Roadie” text. This “ticker” aggregated Twitter tweets (based on a #hashtag or multiple #hash tags) and comments in the app to scroll at the bottom of each screen, automatically refreshing on an ongoing basis. So whenever attendees tweeted with the #hashtag #FortuneTech or commented in the App, it would show on the screen.
We can now enable this “ticker” at any event who has an official app, providing attendees with current updates from their peers and encouraging attendees to Tweet themselves with the event #hashtag. The “ticker” is an effective way to increase user engagement and participation, as well to increase brand awareness for the event as it is happening.
Announcing our newest partner: Rockstar Digital

Need help building or managing your Mobile Roadie app? Announcing our newest partner: Rockstar Digital.
As one of the first “digital management” agency’s focused on music and entertainment, Rockstar Digital helps artists and entities create and manage their digital content, organically engage with their fans and grow their online presence. From mobile apps and websites, to social media marketing and direct-to-fan campaigns, they connect the dots between the online and offline world in ways that are intelligent, hip and fun. Based in Los Angeles, their roots are in the entertainment world but their branches extend into the growing tech community.
Interestingly enough, before creating Rockstar Digital, Rob Swope worked internally with our team in 2010 as Communications Manager. Highlights of his work included building and managing conference apps for CMJ, Le Web and MIPcom (now MIP Markets), organizing our partnership with Ning, creating and writing content for our blog and the “Why Moro” section of our website, as well as developing case studies for Taylor Swift, Drake and the Miami Dolphins.
After realizing the growing need for hands-on attention and support in the digital world, he branched off and created Rockstar Digital. Since then, his team has been busy building and creating MoRo apps for William Shatner’s Myouterspace, Kenny Chesney, Lake Tahoe and many others. Because of his experience and our close interaction with him, we truly believe that Rob and his agency are in a unique position with a high level of knowledge, experience and insight into our platform. We tracked him down to hear his thoughts about the partnership:
“I can’t say enough about Mobile Roadie and how excited I am to represent them as we bring mobile apps to the masses. The company is a class act with a dedicated team of talented and driven individuals. My mission is to take their hard work and build apps that turn heads and create a lasting impact. As more artists turn to mobile as a way to engage with their fans, MoRo and Rockstar will be there to provide an unmatched combination of a technology and creativity.”

Mobile Roadie in Japan
posted by Michael Arcand

Mobile Roadie is pleased to announce our latest expansion, this time into the Japanese market! We’re teaming up with All Access Today‘s Japanese office (AATJ), one of Japan’s top entertainment companies. With offices in the U.S., U.K., and Japan, All Access Today is an entertainment company with a global reach. Clients of the company include Cindi Lauper, Rob Thomas, Matchbox Twenty, and Sugarland. Combine that with coordination of events such as the 2008 Projekt Revolution tour where they worked with Major League Baseball Properties to promote special game passes and other rewards for concert goers, and you can see that they are truly a world-class entertainment company. They are already well-known in Japan as a live entertainment company, specializing in managing fan clubs, VIP ticketing, merchandising, and planning events. AATJ plans to utilize Mobile Roadie to offer artists, labels and artist management firms a solution on managing and delivering new services to smartphone users.
While their current mobile offerings include online list building as well as development of web properties such as the artist’s website and social media profiles (Facebook, MySpace, Twitter), AATJ will be expanding their product line into the mobile world by providing Mobile Roadie‘s platform as their premiere app-building partner. Their fan-based focus will promote instant delivery of music, mobile updates from the artists, exclusive opportunities via the mobile platform, community connection, and entertainment. Of course, this is where Mobile Roadie comes in, with the CMS that will deliver these exact qualities to their users.
Additionally, we would like to acknowledge our very own Taishi Fukuyama in Japan, who is a key player in the AATJ-MoRo partnership team. You can reach out to Fukuyama via twitter @tshfyhm or Facebook.
